Dr. Erin Olivo is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25-years experience. She maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan where she treats patients and teaches them how to cope with anxiety. Dr. Olivo works with adults and teenagers who are experiencing difficulties dealing with stress, depression, unhealthy relationships, chronic illness or problems such as self-destructive behavior, addictions, and over-eating.

Dr. Olivo’s approach is solution focused and integrates cognitive behavior therapy and DBT therapy with mind-body strategies such as mindfulness meditation. Her treatment balances change strategies with acceptance strategies and addresses the emotions underlying the issues. Dr. Olivo teaches her patients how to manage their emotions, tolerate and cope with stress and anxiety, and achieve a more balanced approach to life that she calls Wise Mind Living.

Executive Coaching and Leadership Development

Dr. Olivo offers personally tailored coaching for executives at all stages in their careers. She helps executives identify and prioritize career goals, and creates an action plan for reaching them.

Coaching sessions are typically one hour in length and are conducted in person and by phone. Everything discussed in coaching sessions is private and confidential.

Professional Qualifications

Erin Olivo, Ph.D., MPH, is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25-years experience treating patients. She was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology at the Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons from July 2004 to July 2017 and now holds a faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Olivo was Director of the Columbia Integrative Medicine Program where she oversaw research trials that involved teaching mindfulness meditation to cardiac surgery patients, people with chronic cardiovascular disease, and breast cancer patients. The results found that mindfulness meditation improved their overall quality of life, and decreased feelings of anxiety and depression.

Dr. Olivo earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Duke University. She earned Master’s Degrees in both Public Health and Social Work and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology all from Columbia University. Dr. Olivo also has intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Clinical Hypnosis.
